Why Fish With a Guide
A Guided Bass Trip Built Around You
Lake Guntersville is one of the best largemouth bass fisheries in the country — 69,100 acres of grass, ledges, and creeks in north Alabama that draw anglers from around the world. On water this big, a local Guntersville bass guide is the difference between covering water and catching fish.
Donald has lived on this lake for nearly his entire life and has fished it for more than 45 years. He knows where the bass live season to season, and he's watched many clients boat the biggest bass of their lives here. See recent trips in the photo gallery.
Every guided bass fishing trip is tailored to your goals: a relaxed day on the water with family or a client, focused instruction on a new technique, learning the current pattern before a week-long visit, or finding fish for an upcoming tournament.
And it's your day on the rod — Donald doesn't fish on your trip unless you ask him to, or unless he needs to demonstrate a technique. Trips are catch-and-release, so Guntersville keeps producing big bass for the next angler.

Meet Your Guide
Donald Johnson — Lake Guntersville Bass Guide
Donald has lived on Lake Guntersville for 99% of his life and has fished it for more than 45 years. His goal on every trip is simple: meet — and hopefully exceed — your expectations for the day, and be the best fishing guide in north Alabama.
He's had the pleasure of watching many anglers catch their personal-best bass on this lake, and the catches you see reported on social media are his clients' fish — Donald doesn't fish tournaments himself, and he doesn't fish on your trip unless you ask or a technique needs demonstrating.
Anglers of all ages and skill levels are welcome, from first-timers and kids to tournament anglers. Read more on the guide page, or check the blog for what's happening on the water.
